An evidence-based PT + OT collaboration course for clinicians treating neurologically complex vestibular populations.
Patients with dizziness often present with complex visual, vestibular, sensory, and autonomic impairments that complicate assessment and treatment. This course equips clinicians with practical tools to confidently screen, differentiate, and manage visual motion sensitivity.
This mini-course provides rehabilitation professionals with evidence-based strategies for screening and managing vestibular dysfunction complicated by visual motion sensitivity, sensory integration impairment, and autonomic dysfunction.
Participants will review vestibular and visual anatomy and physiology, examine pathophysiological mechanisms underlying visual dependence and sensory reweighting deficits, and apply the ICF framework to clinical decision-making.
Case-based learning will reinforce the implementation and progression of VRT interventions including habituation, gaze stabilization, and optokinetic exposure techniques.
Who should attend: Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists treating neurologic or vestibular populations. Intermediate level β some foundational knowledge of vestibular or neurological rehabilitation recommended.
A tightly-paced 2 hours. Every minute is intentional.
This course has been pre-approved by APTA Georgia for Continued Competency Hours (CCHs). Georgia-licensed PTs are eligible to receive CCH credit. Register with your full legal name. Certificates distributed after post-test and evaluation completion.
OTs are warmly welcome and will receive a Certificate of Completion after the course. While not pre-approved through an OT governing body, the content is consistent with CE requirements and submission for credit is likely to be approved by your state board.
A Board-Certified Neurologic PT and a vision-specialized OT β both treating the same patients from different angles, finally in the same room.
